The Wildlife Drive at Montezuma NWR was quite crowded by the Eagle sculpture Sunday 7/11/21 when a Roseate spoonbill made an appearance! This is thought to be a first record for the Cayuga Basin and MNWR. The bird was quite cooperative for a few hours, feeding, preening and resting before flying toward Tschache Pool. It was subsequently relocated on 7/12 & 7/13 at Tschache Pool. A special guest indeed!

OMG!!
Honest that is not my idea of a tranquil day at the refuge.
I do hope those gathered got a chance to see what they came for
Amazing to see a Spoonbill here. Thanks for the photo.
Hi, David FIgura, outdoors writer for The Post-Standard here. This is awesome. Who took the above photos and can I use them for a story on the appearance of this bird? Phone number of the photographer or someone else who has seen the bird and the hordes it’s attracted? I can be reached at 315-470-6066. Email is dfigura@NYup.com
