I didn’t expect to see such a decrease in water at the Refuge yesterday. I am including a couple of links that Alyssa at the MAC found about water in our area. I found them to be very interesting and informative.
From Alyssa: “This is a pretty interesting fact sheet about the watershed that we’re in and how both the geology/topography, and human influence makes it difficult to move water through our area.”
https://ny.water.usgs.gov/pubs/fs/fs18099/fs180-99.pdf
“And this is a way to see the current water conditions in NY.”
This morning water was draining from the Main Pool into the Seneca Cayuga Canal! Armitage Road is still closed west of Olmstead Road due to water over the road. The Seneca Trail at the Visitors’ Center area is under water along the Seneca Cayuga Canal but you can easily get to the tower.

Thanks, Jackie & Alyssa. Very interesting, indeed!
