Due to recent heavy rains and runoff, we are experiencing higher than usual water levels in the Wetlands Complex. The Seneca Trail east of the Wildlife Drive and all along the Seneca-Cayuga Canal is flooded.  The flooding extends almost up to the parking lot at the Office/Maintenance area. As of Tuesday, November 02, 2021 the Main Pool was still being flooded from the Seneca-Cayuga Canal. The parking area for the May’s Point Observation deck was under water and it extended up to South May’s Point Road. On Monday morning, South May’s Point Road was completely covered with water past our observation deck. Yesterday it had receded and was only covering one lane of the road. The fishing/cartop launch site on Route 89 diagonally across from South May’s point Road was under water that extends to the edge of Route 89. Armitage Road was flooded west of Olmstead Road.  The water totally covers the road in the low lying, flat area at the mucklands east of the ditch.

Northern Montezuma is mainly under water.  The seasonal part of Carncross Road east of Savannah Spring Lake Road is closed so one cannot drive on to Howland’s Island right now.  The berm at Guy’s Marsh is under water so access to the observation deck is difficult.

I think that it will be some time before many of these areas get back to more normal levels.

PLEASE BE SAFE AND DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH WATER THAT IS COVERING THE ROAD!
