Autumn has been at its finest with spectacular colors, mild temperatures, and lots of birds!! Ducks and geese abound in the Main Pool! Dowitchers seem to favor Seneca Flats lately and we found several dozen dunlin in one of the pools along the interstate. Most were resting among a flock of green-winged teal in some cattail stubble. On Monday morning, I found an ibis in one of the pools along the interstate. I’m pretty sure it was a glossy, but I am not experienced enough to know for sure. And even though we gave a thorough search yesterday, we did not see an ibis. RATS!!
Pete’s last guided walk for October is this Sunday, October 27. Meet at the Visitors’ Center at 10:00 am. Be prepared to be dazzled by all the wonderful things you will see and the connections he will make for you!!
Hopefully, you can get out to explore and experience the Autumn grandeur and the awesome, magical migration at the Montezuma Wetlands Complex trails, towers, and the Refuge Wildlife Drive.
