The Visitor Center Pool has water and is filing up with great birds!! The Main Pool has increasing
numbers of waterfowl. Most of the ducks are dabbler (puddle) ducks but the diver ducks are beginning
to show up too.

I have seen Wilson’s Snipe in Seneca Flats for the past two surveys. With binoculars or a
scope, slowly scan along the far water edge, just into the vegetation, to try to find them. Good luck!!

At the Sandhill Crane Unit, at the far east end of Van Dyne Spoor Road, there is a large puddle of water that held most of the shorebirds we encountered on this survey. The Semipalmated Sandpipers are so CUTE!!
The Black Bellied Plovers were not in that location. They were toward the back of the unit. They were
definitely Black Bellied Plovers and not American Golden Plovers as I saw black under their wings!! I
hope they will venture closer to the road for our visitors to enjoy!
