In and around the Montezuma Wetlands Complex: 11 out of 15 nests have hatched; have seen a total of 5 eaglets in 3 of those nests so far! 1 nest appears to still be incubating; 2 nests can’t be checked right now and 1 nest has had no nesting activity yet.

Are you aware of the nest on Rte 31, north side, east of Clyde? Just checking!! Look for the osprey nest with camera on the south side, and a Posted sign on the north. Just east of that, maybe 100 yards back?
I am familiar with four osprey nests along Rt. 31 east of Clyde: 1) on top of the DiSanto ‘silver’ silos, 2) across from Benning Rd., 3) on top of the grain elevator at the Messner farm (although it is now gone, as checked 5/27/20), and the tall pole with platform between Daboll and Merrigan Rds., but not with one that has a camera. Where is it? I keep the spreadsheet for the Cayuga Lake Osprey Trail (CLOT), and do not know of any osprey nest with a camera besides the North Spring Pool nest, and the Salt Point nest in Lansing.
Make that 4/27/20 – I was out most of yesterday, checking osprey and eagle nests. Saw five juvenile eagles in a cornfield on Brown Rd., across from the osprey nest on the Tyre Rd. side of the canal and lock. One of the eagles had been soaring as I approached, which upset the resident male osprey, who was attacking it until it coasted down to join its compatriots on the ground.
Yes, we are aware of that nest. It is included in our counts.
Thanks!
