Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge Guided Birding Tour

May 7, 2017 @ 7:30 am - 12:00 pm

The month of May means songbird migration at the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge!

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge will host a Guided Birding Tour, Sunday, May 7, 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM, beginning at the South Spring Pool Trail, State Route 89. There is no fee for this program.

Join our birding guide, Meena Haribal, on Sunday, May 7, 7:30 AM, to walk the refuge’s South Spring Pool and Esker Brook Trails in search of warblers and other migratory songbirds. After the walk, you can accompany Meena on the Wildlife Drive for more birding, focusing on wetland songbirds, waterfowl, marsh birds, and raptors!

Participants should meet at the South Spring Pool Trail parking area, located on State Route 89, north of Routes 5 & 20, and across from the refuge’s hunter check station. Meena Haribal has lived in Ithaca, NY for more than 20 years. She is a Chemical Ecologist and studies interactions between two organisms based on chemistry. She is naturalist interested in birds, insects, plants and mammals.

Meena is author of books on butterflies and dragonflies and an accomplished photographer. She is familiar with the local fauna and flora and loves to observe behaviors. She has leads trips for more than 35 years to organizations such as Bombay Natural History Society, Cayuga Bird Club and Spring Field Ornithology classes.
